I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of Your Excellency's despatch No. 109 of the 3rd instant on the subject of the status of the Bank of China and in reply to enclose copy of a Circular despatch, No. 16 of June 5th, 1913, addressed to me by His Majesty's Minister at Peking, from which it appears that the Bank of China is the 'central
bank of the country'.
The Branch at Canton closed its doors soon
after the declaration of independence by Kuangtung and the staff fled to Hongkong.
